Is it something that you often don, or only don it off and on?
As candid eyes a candidate can get and still get picked.
I need someone down with making chilled out complicated electronic music.
Two heads are better than one
Four ears are better than none
Then you’d fucking write for a living.
That didn’t make sense.
Stahp.
It used to be that Yoni had a point and purpose for every word in every line in every hook he said. Where the hell did that go?
On “White English” he’s just saying things that don’t make sense, and yes I get the irony of the “Lost in translation” hook.
“Thirst” has a sick beat and good starts to…
Stupid. He’s writing the same way? The new why? Is very good. Imagine writing for 10 years plus that he has been in this music game. Even though he’s rhyming a lot he’s selling out? Oh well if he is. I just don’t agree with you.
My rebuttal is that yoni is a very seemingly introverted person and his writings correlate with what’s processing through his twisted thought patterns. Like most writers they stumble upon writers block but look at oaklandazylum and then listen to mumps ect. Night and day difference. Yonis gotten older and so his lyrical content has too. In honesty, youth appears “fresh” while adulthood seems “stale.”
I’m not saying he’s sold out, writing the same way, or getting stale. I don’t think he could ever sell out, and if he was writing the same it would be much, much better!
On Alopecia or Eskimo Snow, I could probably to this day find something new that he’s commenting on in every song on those records. It’s been so long, and he’s had time to perfect an already almost perfect style of songwriting, but it almost comes across as confused now.
I very much believe that he’s writing what he feels, but it used to be that he wrote in a way that you “got” the specific problems he had with conflicting emotions, or conflicting actions, or his actions being in conflict with his emotions. It just seems to me that he doesn’t know what he feels anymore, or doesn’t know how much clearer he can get it across AND THAT’S FINE, it’s just not what I expected I guess.
And I know it’s not fair to expect the same album over and over, but it’s just one of the things I hoped would never change. Who knows, it could grow on me, but it just didn’t feel right man, it didn’t feel the same.
okay i can dig that lol
Haha, yeah man, it’s not that I hate it or anything. Pitchfork gave it a 2.8, and I think that’s bullshit. It deserves at least a 6.5, but I’m used to 10.0 albums from him lol
